ActiveX controls are building blocks for small programs. These blocks can be used for creating applications that are spread online. The problem is that when you download a file that carries an ActiveX control, you may inadvertently download something else, like a virus or spyware. The catch is that you need the ActiveX control to run your video or gather your data and the routine is used extensively in all sorts of web functions.
Attempting an ActiveX Repair Yourself
If you already have an ActiveX error upon your hard drive, you may be able to resolve the problem as follows.
Left click on the start button. Click on Run. Click OK twice when the Run bar comes up enter regsvr32 msxml3.dll. Close all the windows and then open them again.
At this point, the error should be resolved. As we all know though, sometimes it takes more than a simple solution to fix a problem.
Did You Remove some Software with a DLL File that You Still Need?
If you removed a program, you may have inadvertently removed a DLL file. These files are essential to the proper operation of your program and system. If this turns out to be the case, you can easily restore the DLL file by restoring the program to you system. Once you have reloaded the program, the error should go away.
From the Registry
Sometimes you find that ActiveX errors are coming from the registry. These errors are sometimes the result of previously downloaded malware that you allowed into your machine. Once it is there, you have to extract it or it will continue to cause problems within your system. You have two choices.
You can attempt to fix the problem on your own. Realize that you should not do this if you don’t understand the code. Removing or adding one keystroke can make the difference between a working operating system and one that doesn’t. For the rest of us, there are registry cleaners. Download a good registry cleaner and have it clean out the unneeded files from you computer.
Take a few minute to learn how to clean out ActiveX errors and go through the entire registry and search out all damaged files and clean them up, too. You will end up with a computer that is error-free and much faster. With an optimized PC, you can enjoy your internet experience once again.
